SIVB pushes for visitors’ arrival

THE Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau is uniting all effort to increase visitors’ arrival in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) Josefa “Jo” Tuamoto said SIVB has undergone major transformation in its operation setting to carry out this plan.

He said SIVB has appointed officers to look after the country’s niches markets regionally and also at the international level.

Mr Tuamoto said Solomon Islands Tourism niche market overseas includes; Australia, New Zealand, North America and Asia.

He said the task at hand is trying to increase Visibility and awareness of Destination to Solomon Islands to give tourist a clear picture of Solomon Islands.

Mr Tuamoto said SIVB and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are teaming up to increase Australia visitors’ arrival to seven percent and five percent for New Zealand this year.

He said plans and activities have already been put in place and are ongoing to support the programmes.

“To increase our market, we are looking at improving our public relation, increase advertisement, promotions through trade show and other activities, special marketing events, destination and product awareness,” Mr Tuamoto said.

Meanwhile he said effective partnership is crucial to make sure the programmes are effective and success.

Mr Tuamoto said Tourism industry requires working together.

“Isolation has no place in Tourism industry,” he said.
