Ryall hopes to influence more American and Japanese tourists

AN international travel writer who is currently in the country hopes he will influence more American and Japanese tourists to the Solomon Islands.

He made the statement to local media in an interview yesterday, saying there are lots of potential things which can attract Americans and Japanese to the Solomon Islands.

Mr Julian Ryall said as part of his visit he will travel several key WWII battle fields, talk to people about the war and other interested areas in the country.

He said one of his intentions is to highlight stories on WWII as to promote the 75th anniversary of the Guadalcanal campaign, and it will be interesting to American readers.

“It’s very interested in the history and I know it will generate more interests particularly to the American readers.

“I’ll be writing to magazines in Japan and hope the same interest will also from them to know about the history of the battle of WWII in Solomon Islands,” Mr Ryall said.

He said there are lots of wealthy people in Japan and America and they love to travel, and knowing these information will help them to visit Solomon Islands.

During his short stay in the country, Mr Ryall will also talk to Sir Bruce Saunders to know about some of the plans of authorities here regarding travel centres.

Adding that it is also an opportunity for him to meet Sir Bruce to know about other activities planned for the anniversary of the Guadalcanal Campaign.

However, he said with his very short stay in the country he will write as many stories as he can to let people in Asia Pacific and other parts of the world know about Solomon Islands.

Mr Ryall said there are about seven outlets in the Asia Pacific through which his stories will be published.
