ROC-Taiwan ambassador visits SINU

AMBASSADOR of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Solomon Islands, His Excellency Roger Luo paid a visit to the Solomon Islands National University on Tuesday.
The visit was accompanied by Minister Calvin K M Yen and Deputy Counsellor Mr Oliver Weng.
They had a fruitful discussions with Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Basil Marasinghe and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Corporate).
During the welcome remarks, Professor Basil Marasinghe thanked ROC for supporting SINU’s academic programmes such as Bachelor of Nursing and Mandarin Language Programme.
Acting VC Prof Basil also conveyed SINU’s appreciation for ROC’s Kaohsiung medical university in Taiwan for providing postgraduate education to Lecturers in School of Nursing.
His Excellency, the Ambassador Roger Luo pointed out there is many other areas that ROC may be able to help SINU that among them are Agriculture, Forestry and ICT.
He also mentioned that ROC will be funding the building of Stadia for Soccer and Football for the 2023 Pacific Games.
Both the Ambassador and Acting Vice Chancellor discussed the opportunity of cooperation with SINU and Republic of China in the above areas and also discussed the possibility of SINU having Department of Dentistry in the future.
