RAMSI leaves no stone unturned
RAMSI’s priority now is to finish every infrastructure and capacity development projects including other areas that they have promised before leaving this coming June.
This is according to the RAMSI Deputy Special Coordinator Alex Cameron during RAMSI’s farewell to Western Province this week in front of the entire province’s MPAs at the Wesley United Church Hall in Gizo Town.
“So we are working as hard as we can to complete our promise for the country before we leave on the 30th of June,” assured The RAMSI DSC yesterday.
“The Police Commissioner of Solomon Islands is pushing us very hard and we are responding by working extremely hard,” he said.
Along with finishing all the projects that RAMSI is working on, the RAMSI DSC said that they are also currently working hard to support the police and the donors that will follow on from RAMSI to prepare for RAMSI’s departure.
“Australia and New Zealand have already committed to provide police programmes to support RSIPF after RAMSI finishes,” said the RAMSI DSC.
“So the special 15 countries intervention will end but friends from Australia and New Zealand will continue to provide bilateral support to the Solomon Islands police and that support will be in areas like crime prevention and special projects like rearmament as well,” he said.
