Quality bus service for all

DEAR EDITOR, as a concerned citizen of Solomon Islands, I feel that I must address the quality of bus services provided by our public buses in Honiara.

As we all know, most people in Honiara depend very much buses for transportation to and from workplaces and Schools.

As a daily commuter of public buses in Honiara last year before coming overseas to do my studies, it has come to my attention that most bus drivers and bus conductors seem to ignore such little things like using deodorants.

Therefore, public bus owners must make sure that their employees (Bus conductors and bus drivers) must be well groomed before starting off their day and to think of themselves as employees.

From my experience, I have come across many incidents where bus conductors were very scruffy, displaying a very poor quality service.

It is very essential that bus drivers and bus conductors to look after themselves and to apply personal hygiene to provide a friendly and quality bus service to the residents of Honiara.

I urge the Town council Police, bus owners, bus drivers, bus conductors and the responsible authorities to please take note of this.

The responsible authorities need to organise workshops for bus drivers and bus conductors on the importance of having a quality Bus service.

As residents of Honiara city, we should work together to support our fellow citizens to ensure that we experience quality bus service.

As the saying goes “Cleanliness is close to Godliness”
