Public service to have new building soon
THE Ministry of Public Service is in the initial stages of planning the construction of a new building that will cater for training.
Public Service Permanent Secretary, Mr Nego Sisiolo confirmed this to the paper yesterday.
Mr Sisiolo said that the ministry is currently renting a venue to carry out government training.
He added that the area for the new building has already been cleared and the immediate work of geo-tech survey is the next step.
In addition. Mr Sisiolo said that this phase involves the collection of soil samples that will be used to analyse the kind of soil present thus assist engineers to determine the appropriate foundation structure suitable for the building.
He said the second phase which is architect planning already has a draft design concept in place.
Mr Sisiolo said the concept includes what the building should contain and certain specifications like the number of offices and conference rooms.
He mentioned that such discussions will be carried out with any potential architect.
Mr Sisiolo said that the final phase of planning is the actual construction of the building which will take a duration of about nine to ten months.
He said that this is an ongoing plan and that there is limited development budget for this project from the government. However, the ministry is gradually working towards it.
