Politics can make or break: DAP wing leader

Democratic Alliance Party Wing Leader Hon Rick Hou

THE Democratic Alliance Party appeals to the public to join their party with the belief that everyone’s contribution is important and essential to how the country is governed.

Party Wing Leader, Rick Hou said that politics is about the life and future of this country specifically the people and everything in this country.

He added that it is a misconception to believe that politics is some abstract, non-essential or irrelevant part of life.

In relation he describes politics in a phrase “politics can make or break”

“When we have a political leadership that does the right thing we see prosperity, on the other hand when we have a political leadership that does the wrong thing the opposite is true”, he said.

He also said that there is a place for constructive criticism and questions for accountability but there is no place for bystanders and spectators.

Mr Rick Hou also stated that DAP party asks the public to come and make a difference.

“DAP Leadership is asking you to come and be involved; make that difference you believe you can make”

“Have a taste of what it is like to govern and run a country”

“This is the Call and Challenge I want to put forward to public”, he said.

Speaking on how to get involved, he said any one is invited to join the party.

“DAP is calling on you to come and be part of this call to duty”, he said.

He emphasized that any citizen can join the party with no restrictions on title or background and for the reason that we have people out there with very good ideas which can contribute to policies that are implemented but if they do not come forward then such ideas and constructive thoughts will only go to waste.

Mr Hou added that anyone can join whether they are members of the national or provincial government as well as intending candidates for the next general elections.

“You can still contribute without being elected. Join as members, attend meetings, sub-committees or the executive. This is where you get involved.” he said.

In this regard, he highlighted that most people are serving in the public service, civil society organisations (churches) and in the private sectors.

He also mentioned that there are others who must serve directly in the political affairs of this country which include elected official MPs, MPAs,

“DAP is calling on you to come and be a part of this call of duty”, he said.
