PM and delegation in Vanuatu
PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogovare and his delegation is currently in Port Vila, Vanuatu, for the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) capitals visit yesterday.
Mr Sogavare will meet Vanuatu Prime Minister and Front de Liberation National Kanak et Socialiste (FLNKS) spokesman today concerning fellow Melanesian leaders.
“The MSG Chair capitalizes on the MSG Capitals’ tour to discuss with fellow Melanesian leaders issue concerning the sub-regional grouping and operation of its Port Vila-based secretariat,” according to PM Press Secretariat.
It was highlighted the MSG’s Capitals’ second tour is envisioned to discuss and endorse the Revised Criteria for Observor Status, Associate Membership Guidelines to the MSG.
Yesterday morning, the MSG Chair and his delegation visited the MSG Secretariat headquarter and joined the Director General and his staff for its 2017 Thanksgiving Service.
Hon Sogavare and delegation then briefed by the Director General about the work programmes of the secretariat following the first MSG capitals’ tour MSG Chair made in early 2016, highlighting challenges faced in implementing these programmes and recommendations on the way forward.
On Monday night, Vanuatu Prime Minister hosted a welcome function for the MSG Chair and his delegation.
On Wednesday they will depart for Suva, Fiji, for the second leg of the tour.
