Don Higgins, the New Zealand High Commissioner to Solomon Islands

NEW Zealand High Commissioner, Don Higgins highlighted his country’s partnership with Solomon Islands is partly to maintain national security.

This was uttered following the reopening of National Children’s park on Friday, which was attended by leaders from Honiara City Council, New Zealand and Solo Enviro Beautification.

Mr Higgins said, “as Solomon islands embarks on its important political transition with drawdown RAMSI in July, a key focus of government and donor partners alike will be on maintaining National security.

“And addressing the underlying causes of the tension period in order to maintain stability and prosperity.”

He said they have been working with Solomon Islands particularly HCC for five years through improvement of community infrastructure—for instance public library and Children’s park.

The Honiara City Clerk, Charles Kelly thanked New Zealand High Commission Office in Solomon Islands for long standing support provided lately.

He said their support towards renovation of Children’s park embarks on its relationship under that HEDSUP project.

Chairperson for SEB, Kaithie Saunders they are grateful HCC and NZ provided funds for reopening of Children’s park which will reinforce security and prosperity to Solomon Islands.
