No major damages from bad weather

POLICE Commissioner Mathew Varley confirmed yesterday that no major damages or injury has been reported to the police in relation the recent bad weather.

He said police officers have been out in the communities responding to calls for help and related issues rising from the heavy rain that hit the country couple of days ago.

“Although we had some flooding and minor damages that affected the local communities police did not have any reports of injuries or significant risk to safety for people in which it is good,” Mr Varley said.

He also said that police also helped in evacuation of students from Tenaru due to high water levels and also helped people move through flooded waters.

He thanked the people and the communities for working together with police officers in making sure of the safety of communities.

Therefore he reminded the general public to listen out for weather updates from responsible authorities as this time of the year is a time for bad weather.
