Mr Surimalefo applauds Solomon Safe Driving Hub
INSPECTOR of Royal Solomon Islands Police – Traffic Department has applauded Solomon Safe Driving Hub for providing drivers with training.
Speaking during the graduation of 20 students yesterday, Inspector Brian Surimalefo said Solomon Safe Driving Hub has played an important role in trying to promote safe driving – a key model to promote traffic safety.
He said such training is very important as it can help to reduce traffic accidents and at the same time giving drivers the best knowledge of their roles and responsibilities on the road.
“On behalf of the Royal Solomon Islands Police force, more especially the Traffic Division, I’d like to acknowledge Solomon Safe Driving Hub for this great initiative.
“I also congratulate you students who took time and effort to complete this very important training,” Mr Surimalefo said.
He explained that driving comes with huge responsibility as drivers are responsible for the safety of other vehicle and pedestrian.
Mr Surimalefo adds that drivers must also have good caring attitude whenever they use the road.
He stressed that it is important for drivers to have, caring attitude, always responsible, consider the safety of other vehicle plus pedestrian and also confident when driving.
Mr Surimalefo told those present that vehicles are design based on safety components that drivers must understand and know how to use.
“A vehicle has speed paddle, break paddle, clinch paddle, head mirror, side mirror and wiper. These vehicle parts are developed to make sure drivers used for their own safety as well as the safety of others.
“A driver must acknowledged that these vehicle parts, human sense and traffic regulations must work together,” he explained.
Mr Surimalefo said drivers’ commandment is the Traffic Act.
He stressed that drivers must understand the Traffic Act before obtaining a driving license.
