Malaita Premier salutes women on their special day

MALAITA provincial premier Hon Peter Ramohia salutes the international women day celebration that was hosted for Malaitan women in Auki yesterday.
During the celebration premier Ramohia said that it’s a goal that UN women have set by 2030 that men and women should have equal equality both in leadership in political and in our communities.
“We are here to celebrate, remember and reflect the contributions what our women have contributed in our societies and communities.
“In the past only men attended education where women do farming in our gardens.
“But today women are the priority contributors in our families, communities and our country as a whole that we should salute them.
“Women are the most economical contributors to our local economy.
“The malaita provincial government are in full support and in favour that women have more changes to be one of the leaders in the provincial government.
“There were times that we ignore women’s leadership but women somehow have greater visions to address issues concerning women in the political levels.
“So far our provincial government has only one provincial ward member, we need women to contest in the upcoming election to equal equality in leadership.
“I wish to congratulate all malaita women throughout the nation Solomon Islands a happy Womens day celebration.”
