Make us proud: Malefoasi

UNDER Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource and Development (MEHRD) has urged the New Zealand scholarship recipients to make the country proud.

Mr Ambrose Malefoasi made the statement when he met with the students at the New Zealand High Commissioner’s residence at Lengakiki recently.

He told the students that they are representing the country in some of the best universities in New Zealand and in other regional countries.

“Must remember that the country is waiting for you to return with something tangible to develop the country,” he said.

Mr Malefoasi said “winning NZ scholarship is quite difficult to do, and when you won on merit it shows you are best.

“And the New Zealand Government has confident in you that you’ll perform better as they will spend they tax payers money on you.

“So it means you are best. And you are require to prove to the New Zealand Government that the fund spend on you can worthwhile to you and your country.

“This is what we want. We want you to make us proud that when we anticipate something from you, you achieve it.

“The country needs the knowledge and skills you’ll gain during your study in New Zealand and other regional countries under this NZ scholarship.”

He urged them to go and bring their qualifications back home to help boost the economic development of the country.
