Limited space cuts F7 placement

THE Ministry of Education and Human Resource revealed that limited spaces available in schools for Form 7 is a factor that determines placements for F7.

A statistical summary made on this year’s findings stated that F7 enrolment continue to increase over the years, but no increase in space available for F7 in schools for the past five years.

The report stated that only 13 schools offer F7 with 629 space available and it is very limited compared to the growing number of students.

“One of the biggest contributing factors that determine placement number for the schools is the space availability.

“Over the past years, these spaces remain unchanged. Thus, the ministry experienced the same number of spaces available year after year.

“In the past years where students’ performances is much better, the ministry ended up with over crowdedness,” according to the report.

However, the reported revealed that the cut-off aggregates for this year for each subject strands are 12 for Arts and 11 for science.

According to the ministry the cut-off aggregates are determined due to space availability in schools and university subject minimum requirements or pre-requisites.
