First SI to graduate in Physiotherapy from DWU
DIVINE Word University has graduated a first Solomon Islander with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy on March 12, 2017.
He is Douglas Idufanoa of Malaita Province, who is currently doing his two years’ residency in Port Moresby.
In an interview, Mr Idufanoa said receiving a degree in Physiotherapy is a great achievement for him as the first Solomon Islander to graduate from the program at the Divine Word University.
“It’s a history for me receive a degree in physiotherapy, saying physiotherapy is new to Solomon Islands because it deals with rehabilitating people living with disability,” he said.
Mr Idufanoa added, he looks forward to returning to Solomon Islands to provide service for the people in need.
He said, “I urge more people to take up physiotherapy because it is one area that really needs more human resources.”
Douglas Idufanoa who hails from the northern region of Baegu in Malaita will return to Solomon Islands after completing his residency in Port Moresby in 2019.
