CIP Education Authority needs province gov’t

THE Central Islands Province (CIP) Education Authority only needs the full cooperation of the current provincial government to fulfil its education mission.

This is according to the CIP Education Authority PEO, Charles Kasuni.

He said this in response to accusations made recently against him and the CIP Education Authority Chief Education Officer (CEO) over not doing their work properly in office.

According to accusations from the CIP province education teachers, the lack of active performance by the PEO and CEO is resulting in a downfall of the administration of the CIP Education Authority.

Office absenteeism, lack of visiting schools for inspection on their education development, biased school postings and unfulfilled promises for school funds are some of the accusations and concerns raised.

When contacting the CIP Education Authority PEO recently, he reasoned that it was because of the political influence last year by the former overthrown provincial government led by Former Premier Selwyn Mapuli that caused for their poor performance.

He said it was also the reason as to why he was residing in Honiara last year.

But, judging from the cooperation shown by the current provincial government led by Premier Patrick Vasuni, the PEO said their performance will surely improve this year.

“I would like to assure our good teachers of the province that the CIP Education Authority will improve its performance compared to last year,” said the PEO.
