Call to develop Varese CHS
CALLS are being made for the community of Varese to improve their community high school.
This comes after the five tribal group of Varese and Malosova community refused to build five staff houses since 2014.
This has led to the school being without a single staff house, forcing the education authority of Western province to issue out a warning of closure.
Mr Stanly Lilo told Island Sun yesterday the biggest problem faced at Varese CHS is “no staff house for our teachers and we are all concern over the poor result of our students”.
He said Varese village is the centre of Sambora and Malosova and other catchment areas surrounding nearby villages and this is a pride for the communities to think about the future of the students.
“We parents are concern for our children and we need the community to step up and improve the standard of school in the community level.
“We should look at ourselves and ask a few questions. As parents have we done our part in helping the students?
“What can we do to assist in getting a better result this year?
“You never know, one of them will become a doctor in the near future.
“Our children are the future of this Island and nation but it seems our Member of Parliament (MP), provincial members, Logging Companies and communities around Varese Village are not prioritizing education.
“Education is the key to success in everything and we need our children to learn in a good school environment, therefore, responsible authorities provide them the house of knowledge and think education.”
He said criticising others is not a proper way of developing the future generation but working hand in hand and supporting each other.
He calls on community members of Sambora, Varese, Malosova and Supato to quickly respond, improve and develop the current school infrastructure before it is too late.
“It is a time to come together and discuses our children’s education rather than discuses logging issues and unnecessary issues that won’t develop our future generation.”
Lilo also encourages students to keep moving and seek for education and for the betterment of the communities, churches, Islands, provinces and country as whole.
