Busy schedule for ICC this year
THE Isabel Council of Chief (ICC) will this year re-strengthen cultural laws, culture and traditional practices and tribal land tenure system of Isabel province.
Deputy Paramount Chief of Isabel, Chief Ambrose Bugotu said the strengthening programmes are part of the resolution passed by ICC during their summit held in Kia, September last year.
He said the intervention theme of the council’s mission this year is bridging the gaps.
Chief Bugotu said ICC is currently working with Isabel Tripod system where support from house of chiefs, church leaders and Isabel provincial government are needed to facilitate the programmes and activities that would help the province maintain peace, unity as well as economic development.
He said three areas of focus are; Revive and preserve the culture and tradition norms and laws of Isabel province, Support Church development and encourage better development for the province.
Chief Bugotu said Isabel province has a diverse culture and traditional practices with strong Christian faith as well as suitable host of any economic development, as such the Tripod system is an important pillar of such undertakings.
He further stated that ICC will continue to educate the younger generation of Isabel province culture and traditional norms and also the land tenure system of Isabel province.
Chief Bugotu explained that the approach is to make sure the land tenure system in Isabel province are guided by law and at the same time welcome economic development within the province.
He said ICC will also enforce tradition law and crimes along with penalties in effort to maintain law and order within the province.
Chief Bugotu said collective knowledge and support with constructive decision from Isabel Tripod system will be very helpful to achieve the said programmes.
