BLC winds up wildlife protection Bill inquiries today
TODAY, the Bills and Legislation Committee will wind up inquiries into the Wildlife Protection and Management (Amendment) Bill 2016.
Today is day three of inquiries into the two Bills brought forward from last year when the BLC ceased inquiries into the Bills before Parliament when priority was given to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to deliberate on the 2017 budget.
The BLC commenced hearings on the Wildlife Protection and Management (Amendment) Bill 2016 on Wednesday this week.
Present for the hearings were the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology, Ministry of Agriculture (Quarantine section), Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labor and Immigration, Ministry of Forestry and Research and Non-Government Organisations (NGO).
Today the BLC will wind up on the Wildlife Protection and Management (Amendment) Bill 2016 with Bill’s sponsoring ministry; the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.
The Committee is sit through inquiries into the Ombudsman Bill 2016 on Monday next week.
Witnesses expected to turn up are the Ombudsman Office, the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC), the Leadership Code Commission (LCC), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), the Public Solicitor Office, the Commissioner of Police, Transparency Solomon Islands (TSI and Forum Solomon Islands International (FSII).
This according to the schedule is subject to changes should the need arise.
