Bauro football championship kicks off

CENTRAL Bauro constituency in Makira Ulawa Province will kick off their preparations for the 2017 Kakamora Cup in the capital Kirakira, today.
The Sideline sports associates together with the Bauro football Zone Interim committee have confirmed ten teams for the 2017 Bauro football Zone championships.
The competition is to help select a squad for the upcoming Kakamora Cup which takes place next month plus a provincial squad for the proposed Solomon Cup in June.
“Football teams from Waita village up to Warahito have been invite to compete in this seven days of soccer competition,” local organising committee chairman Steven Sunaone said.
“After this tournament we will select players to represent our constituency in the upcoming Kakamora Cup scheduled for next month.
“After the Kakamora Cup then we will select a provincial squad for the upcoming Solomon Cup announced by the Solomon Islands football federation,” he said.
The competition will kick off with an official team parade followed by the first matches for the day between Karua FC and Homa FC.
“It’s going to be great and is also a great chance or our local talents to come and showcase their skills.
“We have the likes of Nicholas Muri, John Dagi jnr who will be featuring or Mahe FC during this seven days of soccer competition,” Sunaone said.
Prizes for the knockout competition is first place $2000, second prize is $1500 and the third prize is $1000.
