Ambassador of the Czech Republic presents credentials

The new Czech Republic’s non-resident Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Martin Pohl with Governor General Sir Frank Kabui
THE new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Solomon Islands has presented his credentials to the Governor General yesterday at the Governor General’s Office.
In his speech, Governor General Sir Frank Kabui welcomed the new Ambassador as a non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary with full powers to represent the Czech Republic in Solomon Islands.
He said Solomon Islands had decided to create new diplomatic relations with other countries in Europe, besides the United Kingdom.
Sir Frank said Solomon Islands has already established diplomatic relations with a number of European countries.
“I do welcome you this morning on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Second and the people of Solomon Islands.
“It is a pleasure for me to receive and accept your Letter of Credence by which you have been appointed and accredited by His Excellency, President, Milos Zeman, as a non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary with full powers to represent the Czech Republic in Solomon Islands,” he said.
Sir Kabui said Solomon Islands and Czech Republic will share a common stand in respecting human rights, democracy, the rule of law, peace and human values to make the world a better place for all members of the United Nations.
He told the new Ambassador that Climate change and environment degradation are challenges for all countries much more for small states and that collective efforts between the two countries are needed to tackle the threat of climate change.
Sir Frank said efforts to deal with the effects of climate change would require resources and effective policies.
He continues to say that Solomon Islands acknowledges and appreciates support from the Czech Republic towards the country’s candidacy for the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, 2018-2020.
Sir Frank said future co-operation on many fronts for mutual benefits of the two countries will envisage a long term emanating from the relationship in the years ahead.
On the same not he convey a best wishes and Good Health to His Excellency the President of Czech Republic on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Second, and the people of Solomon Islands.
“Solomon Islands wishes that peace and prosperity be the hope of the future for the Government and people of the Czech Republic.
“We are always available to give you our support, where we can, during your time as Ambassador and I wish you well in your appointment,” Sir Frank said.
