Oxfam eyes climate change adaptation and disaster risk management

THE Oxfam Solomon Islands is looking at introducing new concept of Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management to stakeholders and communities in the country. Country’s International Non Profitable Organisation, Oxfam Solomon Islands is eyeing a new concept facilitated by students from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, describing the idea provides evidence that could influence situation better. The Senior Programme Manager for Oxfam SI, Mrs Doreen Fernando said communities will benefit from this concept through its network as well as from the participant’s network. Important workshop on climate change adaptation and disaster reduction

A team from the University of Auckland in New Zealand has joined with Oxfam International for research presentation on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction in the country. The team conducted a workshop with Oxfam Solomon Islands yesterday to present findings on Climate Change (CCA) Adaptation and Disaster Risks Reduction (DRM). FOR the first time, Solomon Islands National University (SINU) is offering a free students’ email system and has published a university handbook. These milestone achievements of the country’s national university were officially launched yesterday at the university’s conference room by Pro Chancellor and Chair of the SINU Council, Hon Dr Culwick Togamana MP. Solomon airlines hit by new safety fears   SOLOMON Airlines appears to have been hit by yet another problem – this time it’s to do with safety fears surrounding its ageing domestic fleet.
