West’s by-law on ships littering to be revived

A by-law used to be active for littering the sea of Western Province is to be re-enforced.

It is for ships and its passengers travelling within the sea territory of the province.

Both the Western Province Premier Hon Wayne Maepioh and his Deputy Hon Maloney Lopoto have now both agreed this week to re-enforce the law.

There is already a by-law now not active established by the Marine on ships travelling in Western Province to not litter into the sea,” said Hon Lopoto.

“I will go to the Marine Office and check if the by-law is still there so that we will activate it again and put the law for all ships travelling into the province.”

As this initiation was first taken by the Deputy Premier, Hon Wayne Maepioh applauded him for it and supported the move saying that such move is to contribute to the freshness of Solomon Islands “clean air”.
