Crystal Symphony brightens up the weekend

 

Solomon’s carving attracts many tourists who arrived in Crystal Symphony cruise ship berth at the Honiara International wharf yesterday.

SOLOMON Islands welcomed more than 900 tourists who arrived in Honiara aboard the Crystal Symphony cruise ship yesterday.

Honiara was flocked with tourists, mostly elders, who had chance to visited historical sites and had the opportunity to dive the exotic dive sites.

Many walked and drove through scenic places around the capital led by local operators.

Moreover, local vendors parked the Ports International wharf with display of arts, jewelleries, carvings, paintings and handicrafts, a thing seen catchy and attracting many tourists.

Unfortunately there was no entertainment provided yesterday for the visitors.

However, Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau made up for this by engaging local operators to provide activities to take up the tourists’ time.

Additionally, many business houses in Honiara also graced the international visitors along with SIVB marketing Solomon Islands through sharing informations on pamphlets.

This is first time the Crystal Symphony has ever visited Solomon Islands, and it spent the whole day at the city’s international wharf.

Crystal Symphony is the first of 16 expected tourist boats to visit the country this year.

Senior Marketing Officer for SIVB and Officer responsible for cruise ship, Mr Ellison Kyere said the country is expecting to receive another ship next month.

He said cruise ships are starting to show interest in Solomon Islands particularly because of the country’s uniqueness and creativity.

“Solomon Islands starts to attract the outside world because our locals are very creative especially our carvings, it fine compared to other pacific islanders,” Mr Kyere said.

Mr Kyere said from here the Crystal Symphony will sail to Vanuatu then to New Caledonia.

Crystal Symphony carries 922-passengers with 545 crew members.
