Recruitment on hold

—–Gov’t freezes employment of Doctors and Nurses

NEW job recruitment this year by the SIG Public Service of doctors and nurses are now faced with an uncertain future.

Directly affected in this Job freeze exercise are newly graduated Cuban trained doctors and 200 nurses who graduated from Atoifi, Helena and SINU in 2015/16 respectively.

Newly graduated employment prospects for the doctors and nurses under the Ministry of Health cannot be considered and catered for since the Sogavare led DCCG government is now faced with a growing deficit budget.

Reports reaching Island Sun show that 1.6 million that was budgeted for by the Ministry of Health with the intention to be included for consideration by parliament in the second supplementary appropriation bill now being prepared to be considered were recommended for further costing and scrutiny by the Budget Unit.

However The Budget Unit within the Ministry of Finance recommended that the intended recruitment be suspended and delayed for further consideration for inclusion in next year’s 2018 Budget.
