Real Kakamora squad arrives
“We’re not here to defend title”: Tara
THE Makira Ulawa provincial football team, Real Kakamora will arrive in Honiara this Saturday as they get ready for the upcoming Solomon Cup.
Makira Ulawa Football Association (MUFA) Vice President Roxley Tara confirmed the contingent will leave Kirakira on today travelling on board MV Akwa.
He said the squad is expected to arrive in Honiara on Saturday morning or mid-day and is planning on having one or two friendly matches in Honiara before the Solomon Cup kicks off on June 26.
Mt Tara clarified that the MUFA Real Kakamora squad is not coming to defend its football title as many have alluded in the media but is aiming to repeat their Solomon Games feat last year, again.
“MUFA Real Kakamora is the current football champion in the Solomon Games in football, which means, its next year 2018 that we are going to defend this football title.
“This is Solomon Cup 2017 and it’s a different football championship altogether. SIFF have invited all PFAs to participate in this tournament in order to find a new champion after reviving this highest football championship in the country again.
“However, MUFA Real Kakamora 2017 team would like to repeat what it did last year during the Solomon Games 2016, by winning all its pool matches right through to the grand final.
“We are coming to play football that is competitive in all aspect. I can rest assure all other sister PFAs that the final whistle will tell who is the winner. May the best team wins,” he adds.
Meanwhile MUFA has already finalised their 25 man squad for the Solomon Cup. The squad will be accompanied by six team’s official tomorrow.
