Prime Minister’s “Solo4fiji” Appeal continues
THE PRIME Minister’s nation-wide fundraising appeal in aid of Fiji’s post tropical cyclone Winston recovery process continues for the next two weeks.
Called the “SOLO4FIJI” National Appeal, the fundraising drive was initiated by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and endorsed by Cabinet to raise additional funds to aid Fiji’s medium to long-term recovery.
Mr Sogavare has already donated on behalf of the Solomon Islands a total of FJ$1.27 million towards immediate relief efforts when he visited Fiji two weeks ago.
The fundraising appeal has already fetched more than SB$300,000 worth of cash and pledges following a 12 hours Radiotone on the National Broadcaster over the weekend.
Mr Sogavare thanked those who have contributed during the first two days for their donations, saying, their help will go a long way to aid the people of Fiji in their recovery.
He again appealed to others, especially the business community and individuals, to donate from their hearts for this humanitarian cause in the next two weeks.
“I know many of us have been heavily touched by what is happening in Fiji and I know we will continue to be touched by this so let’s put our hearts together for this worthy course,” Sogavare said.
A temporary donations centre has been opened at the Prime Minister’s Office for people making donations to be recorded.
People wishing to make donations can contact the following telephone numbers: 7496374, 7496345, 7496381, 23058 or visit the Temporary Donations Centre at the Prime Minister’s Office.
