Police Commissioner to discuss police issues with Central Province
POLICE Commissioner Mathew Varley is in the Central Islands Province as part of his provincial tours.
Deputy Commissioner Juanita Matanga revealed that while he is in Tulagi the Commissioner will also have talks with the Provincial Government to discuss issues relating to policing.
She said provincial governments and communities need to understand the work and programmes police are heading into.
Mr Varley will be visiting the Tulagi police officers and also talk with the communities so that communities know who the Police Commissioner is, Ms Matanga added.
Mr Varley had visited Auki in the Malaita province after he was appointed as the RSIPF Commissioner.
Meanwhile, Ms Matanga also said Community Policing teams of the Royal Solomon Islands Police are currently out in the communities of Western province talking to people about police crime prevention strategy, family protection and other issues concerning police.
The initiative is to re-enforce the partnership between police and communities on how they can work together to effective implement the crime prevention strategy of the RSIPF, Ms Matanga said.
