Noro Town Council receives new staff house

A new staff house was handed over to the Noro Town Council (NTC) by the Executive Committee of the Western Provincial government last week.

The new staff house is funded under the PCDF funding of the province.

NTC President Mr Ishmael Kuvi speaking during the handover told the Western Province Premier and his Executive that the handing over of the new staff house marks a major step forward in the capacity development of NTC as the local authority and government agent of Noro Town.

He said the need for accommodation for Senior Officers and supportive workers is long overdue.

Western Provincial Government Minister of Planning Hon Carlos Kasiana on his speech during the handover reminded MPA’s and government dignitaries attending that what they witnessed is another milestone in the development chapter of WPG.

He said then to everyone attending that the staff house worth SBD$700,000.00 dollars funded by the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) through the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening would be officially handed over to NTC.

“We are honoured to have the Premier of Western Province Hon Wayne Maepio and his Executive members to officiate in this handing over ceremony of which demonstrates our provincial leader’s commitment in developing the province.

Especially by providing houses and other infrastructure facilities which are crucial for the development of the province and its people,” said Hon Kasiana.

The Minister elaborated that staff housing is a chronic issue in Western Province and its government is working with the administration to address likewise other infrastructure facilities.

“I wish to applaud the Works and Planning Division of the Western Provincial Government who have been instrumental in the implementation of this capital project.

This is the result of their planning, commitment, discipline and dedication on what we have now,” said the Minister.
