Man in custody for burning down house
A local from Malaita Province is in custody at Tulagi Police Station after burning down a house on Monday at Halavo village, Central Ngella.
According to reports reaching Island Sun, the accused had burnt the house belonging to a local Ngellarian in his late 20s after disagreeing over the sales of their partnership business deals.
Whatever their partnership in business was, it could not be clearly reported by the concern sources because it involved illegal activities.
The victim who had been with his family at their crop garden the whole day only returned to the village during the late afternoon on Monday to find his family’s home being burnt to ashes.
Locals from Halavo village reported that the accused that is living at Ave Ave went to Halavo village a day prior to when the incident occurred purposely to check on their business sales.
“After learning that the victim had only misused their money, the accused returned and burnt the house down at around 3pm the following day when he found that there was no one in it,” said sources.
Tulagi Police later attended to the report and arrested the accused at Ave Ave.
According to the Tulagi Police Station responding, the accused is already in custody at Tulagi and will be taken over to Honiara for remand after dealing with his case there.
