Logging machines burned

GIZO Police Operation Officers have arrested three suspects for allegedly burning down a bulldozer machine at Palepale, South Vella Island in the Western Province.

The incident happened at Palepale logging Camp on Thursday.

Gizo Police operations officers told Island Sun Gizo yesterday that the three suspects were arrested on Saturday with the help of the communities around Niarovai and Kolokolo Village.

“The three are suspects over the incident and the police have placed them in custody for questioning. “The incident is believed to have stemmed from bad relationship between two tribal groups from Vatule Niarovai and Kolokolo Village,” they added.

“This is another successful operation that police have made together with the community, similar to the recent arrests made at Rendova”, they said.

The Operation officers said the three suspects are expected to appear in court next month.

Meanwhile the Police have warned villagers that taking the law into their own hands by burning some one’s properties are an act
