POLICE Patrol boat Auki has apprehended a foreign fishing vessel this week for breaching the Fisheries Act.

Deputy Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga said the arrest of the vessel was made during a joint exercise made between the Ministry of Fisheries and the Police Maritime unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

She said the vessel is detained at the Police Patrol base and awaiting the Ministry of Fisheries to determine the process of investigation.

She also said that the vessel was believed to have breached its licence condition.

The vessel was sighted outside Buala island.
