Three lives lost as vehicle goes underwater at Auki wharf.

THREE people lost their lives when their vehicle veered into the sea at the Auki wharf at 11pm on Wednesday night, Malaita province.

Information sighted by this paper said the vehicle driver and two female passengers were involved in the accident.

Reports say that the victims were under the influence of liquor when their vehicle, a blue 5-door Rav-4, went into the sea from the Auki wharf.

Auki police with the help of the public managed to recover the bodies about 4am in the early hours yesterday morning.

It is believed that the victims could not escape from the submerged vehicle through the exits.

The bodies have been transported to Kiluufi hospital awaiting relatives for identification.

From there, the bodies will then be transported to their respective homes for their burial.

One female is believed to be a student, information received by this paper said.

Police in Auki warn the public in Auki not to use Auki wharf as their drinking pub.

This paper could not find a witness to the tragic incident.
