ARCHBISHOP George Takeli and his wife June visited St Francis church yesterday at White River.

St Francis church is still under St Alban church and yet to build a new church building.

The Archbishop was very happy to visit the church and thanked everyone for the warm welcome he received upon his arrival.

He mentioned that he had planned to visit the church last year, but due to his busy schedule he couldn’t afford time to do so.

The Archbishop added that this is the first church he visited this year.

He also said that everyone must work together to build the new church and the leadership of people in the church is what matters.

“I don’t care about the building, I care about the people,” he said.

The Archbishop in relation, stated that he sees the church as well grounded to be turned into a parish.

Speaking in church yesterday, he regarded St Francis church as an “executive church” because of the faithful attendance of elders and public servants both men and women.

The Archbishop also led yesterday’s Sunday church service and was joined by St Alban’s Rector, Walter Devi and St Francis assistant rector Father Steven Sage.

After the church service, lunch was prepared by St Francis church members.
