44 Police advisors from NZ and Aussie expected after RAMSI leaves

AS of July this year, 44 police advisors from New Zealand and Australia are expected to work alongside the RSIPF after RAMSI leaves.

According to the Police Commissioner Matthew Varley, they will be in the country as mentors and trainers to continue building the capacity of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

“They will have the responsibility that RAMSI has had and they will be closely aligned with our senior key people,” said the Police Commissioner during his courtesy meeting with the Premier of Western Province Hon Wayne Maepioh yesterday.

“So we will have a lot of support coming to us to make sure that we do not lose ground and I think that such support will be a good support structure for RSIPF,” he said.

Despite that there will be 44 police advisors coming into the country, the Police Commissioner said that he had to admit his impression with the RSIPF on how they move around as they have shown a lot of commitment and integrity.

‘I think we are in good shape but we need more feedback on our work progress to help us more on our police duty for this country,” said the Police Commissioner.
