‘2 wards for Gizo’ gains public support

THE idea to split Gizo into two wards is gaining support from the public.

Ex-Police Officer, now Pastor for the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Gizo, Mr Joshua Loko supports Hon John Wale’s move.

He adds that MPA Wale is echoing one of the main concerns of the people of Gizo.

Pr Loko supports that Gizo rural areas have never seen any form of development or people benefiting from the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF).

He suggests ward one should be Gizo town itself and ward two, Gizo rural, starting from Koqulavata to Niumada region.

Pr Loko supports Hon Wale’s motion because Gizo’s current population is too big to be catered for by the fund allocations for development.

By splitting into two wards, Mr Loko said each should have separate budgets under PCDF which will be sufficient to manage developments.

“Any development in Ghizo it only happens in town but we in rural areas did not feel any changes that is why Ghizo should have separate wards.

“Currently, Ghizo town already develop by Asians with modern buildings, they’ll need not development but rural areas needs developments,” Loko said.

He hopes Assembly will discuss the matter before it is dissolved in June.
